Why do we get scared when we see unusual things around us? Which hormone is responsible for that panic? Or is it just us acting scared? Or are we filled with much fear that makes us afraid of any and everything?
The word of God says that we should resist the devil and he will flee from us.
How do we resist?
What is resisting itself?
According to google, resist is a verb and it means, to withstand the action or effect of.
Not really clear right?
Let’s find out the meaning of withstand.
Google says, withstand is a verb too and it means, to remain undamaged or unaffected by; resist.
Do we see everything clearly now? Right.
What does it also mean to flee?
According to google again, to flee means run away from a place or situation of DANGER. Wooow..
Its second meaning is to run away from (someone/something)…Woooow….Incredible.

So, analyzing the scripture above, “resist the devil and he will flee from you”, would be, remain undamaged/unaffected by the devil, and he will run away from you.
How can we remain undamaged or unchanged by the devil?
To answer this sweet question of yours my darling, let’s look at two different scenarios from the Truth Word (the Bible).
These are two people who came face to face with the devil and his tricks in different manner, but as different as their approach were, so were their results.
These people are Eve and Our Lord Jesus Christ on the mountain during fasting.
Both of them had an encounter with the devil, the father of lies, but both of them applied different approaches: one failed, while one was victorious. Eve failed, Our Lord Jesus Christ was victorious.
Satan came to them with sweet and enticing words of temptations, but Eve didn’t have any Word or the Word to resist the devil, so Eve failed. Our Lord Jesus Christ was victorious over his temptations from the devil on the mountain because he had the Word to resist the devil. So the devil fled from him.
Do you see the answer to your questions in this story yet?

To answer your question of how do we/can we resist the devil, it is through the scriptures; the use of the double-edged sword of God’s word.
The devil can come physically through a person, or mental and emotionally through thoughts. Whichever way, the only way to resist him is for you to use the sword of the Word of God.
But how can you use a sword you don’t trust/believe in?
The word of God is truth. The scripture says, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
With the ‘will’ in there, it means the above scripture will surely happen. God created the world with his word and the world is still existing. He also said in his word that, Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but his word will not pass away.
What is left for us to do?

What is left for us to do is to believe the Word of God, everything he says in his word, because his word is the truth.
But how can you know the right weapon to use to resist the devil on different occasions?
It is by our self-disciplined attitude to study the word and know it: Not just reciting it but knowing it. [Proverbs 3:6 Amplified Bible Version]
That is when we will have life and have it more abundantly.
God bless us all.
Amen.
