There are many of us still inexperienced in the Spirit. We cannot see, eat, hear, smell or even feel in the spirit; nothing. The only thing we know and have is our salvation (saved from sin). That is good. But like Apostle Paul said, he desired that we all prophesy; so I tell you, it is the desire of our Father in heaven that we grow in the Spirit into maturity.

Some of us have been at the entrance of the Spirit for years. We feel comfortable there, hence, we don’t desire to grow.

But if only we will desire to grow, we will know the beauty of God. We would live in this imperfect world with all its chaos but would still be experiencing heaven on earth every day, because, we are connected to the Father.

Don’t look at anybody for inspiration. Look into yourself because it is possible.

Below are the stages you have to go through to develop your spirit in other to see the growth of your inner man, your spirit.
1. You have to be borne by the Spirit (salvation). That is, you have to confess your sins, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord (master) and personal savior, and be born again.

2. You have to feed on the breast milk of God (his word/the Bible) for 6 months (colostrum). A MUST!

3. You have to start praying in the spirit (speaking in tongues) as well as feeding on the word of God. Don’t do only one and be comfortable. You are actually taking in the breast milk (the word of God) as well as being introduced to water and other liquids (the spirit).

4. Now, you have to meditate on the word of God and apply it. Take a small fraction of the word; be it a verse or a chapter or even a book like the book of Matthew, read and meditate upon it to get to the bone of it and ‘break it’.
Ask the HolySpirit for illumination and strength and other resources you may need. As you meditate and get the revelation of the word, apply it in your daily life. Don’t worry if you fall, rise up and learn how to take your first steps in God. Until you do this, you will be handicapped and you would not be able to ‘run’ or even ‘walk’ in the Spirit.

5. As you start applying the word, desire any gift that the word of God tells you about. Don’t worry if it takes years to happen, you will get there. If it takes a baby 6 years to become a boy, you will get your gift sooner. So have patience.

6. Desire and pray in the Spirit more for long hours unhindered or not distracted; for at least 1 hour.

7. Among the 5 senses; hearing, sight, taste, smell and touch, which of them is activated in your spirit? Do you see, hear, smell, taste or feel anything genuinely in the Spirit? At this stage, you should have at least one of these senses activated in the Spirit. If yes, feed yourself with the word of God more. If no, pray in the Spirit (in tongues) fervently until that sense’s dormancy is broken and the senses activated.

8. Discover your special gifts and purpose in God. At this stage, you have to feed yourself with the word of God more and more until it comes out of your heart through your deeds, so that your light will be seen by all, for your Father in heaven to be glorified.
Begin to talk to people about God. Not in the big sense, as in what you see or hear in the Spirit (“I see that…/I hear in the Spirit that…”). No! Tell them the basic/fundamental, which is Salvation.
Tell them about Jesus Christ and don’t expect much from them. Let the HolySpirit do his thing with them through your mouth.

9. Be prepared for temptations (from the devil) and tests and trials (from God) to strengthen you and shake your roots to see if you are firmly rooted in God through his word or just in the surface of things.

10. Lastly, walk in your purpose as God has given you. Until you walk in your purpose and do it obediently no matter what, you have not lived but had just existed and occupied space on earth as a human being.

Love God really hard. Because, he first loved you so hard that he chose your salvation over the relief or comfort of his only begotten son Jesus (died on the cross).

Don’t jump these steps for your own convenience. It may bring you nothing but chaos in your spiritual life.
As the title says that, developmental stages, these are not tips that you choose from. They are the stages you have to go through accordingly in other for you to develop your spirit.
