“What is your name?”
My name is Augustina. It is the feminine version of Augustus and Augustine, and it means Treasurer / increase. Other meanings are Venerable and great.
“Sweetheart, what is your name, and its meaning?”
Our given names are something we didn’t plan to have; it is an “inheritance” we got from our loving parents: Our parents planned, and thought through their “happiness book” to find one that will suit us and the occasion surrounding our birth.
Later in life when we find the meanings to our names, we feel proud and good about the meanings and how unique they make us feel.
But these meanings to our names will be too vain if we do not live them.
If your name has a negative meaning/background story like Jabez had, just because of some pain your parents lived through from your birth (which is actually not your cross to carry), please change it to something positive or do something about it. Jacob was called Jacob, a supplanter (Genesis 25:26, 32:27 AMP) because of what he did during birth (even before he saw the world), yet, that name had an effect on him throughout his life until God, through His angel changed it to Israel (Genesis 32:28).
Using myself as an example, I can say that, my name can give me some strength through some physical trying times. It has had its unique impact on me without me thinking about it. For example, I nicknamed myself, “Her Majesty”, without even knowing that my name, Augustina actually has a royal connection to its origin. As “Treasurer, and great” the LORD has been merciful: We are still winning even when we pass through fire or water.
However, sometimes when I dress up and feel so good about it, I am tempted to visit all my male friends if possible, just to show them how I look [so true y’all. I am not kidding. This temptation is really real…Lol], but honestly, I am stopped in my “tracks”: I get this feeling which tells me, “Augustina, even though you look and feel so good in this dress, don’t force yourself to visit any male friend, because you always look and feel better the next day.” [And it is so true. I had this temptation just this Tuesday, and guys, on Wednesday, your girl was looking more chic]. “Relax and go about your normal duties; even if it includes a visit, don’t feel anxious about it.” The feeling adds.
Another instance is, when I feel “trashed” by people or when they make me feel almost “worthless” because of whatever, the Treasurer side of me says, “Gal, you are a treasurer, and as a treasurer you only keep treasures, gold, precious diamonds, pearls and the likes, so if people are making you feel worthless, know that you are no trash. Rather, they have just shown you what they are, and as such they don’t belong in your bag (company) of treasures because they are not treasures at the moment to keep. Until someone becomes a treasure or treats you like one, don’t keep them in your treasurer bag.” So I move on, feeling like a boss.
If your name or its meaning is beauty, never feel inferior or ugly.
If your name or its meaning is diamond, live like one. etc
Don’t trash yourself! Don’t look down on yourself! Because even if you think you have nothing at all, at least YOU GOT YOUR NAME! Feel like a boss babe.
# Augustina = increase, treasurer, venerable and great. What a name! Thnx Paps.
Live your name darling, And you will prosper.
AMEN.
FYA:
Genesis 5:28 _ When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. He named him Noah and said, ‘He will comfort us in the labour and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed.’ [What a good ‘prophesy’ from a father, even before Noah, his son faced life.]
Genesis 6:9 _ Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. [Wooow… Live your names guys]
Genesis 9:12-17 _And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. ” So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
What does the name Noah mean for a boy?
The name Noah has been derived from the biblical figure by the same name, and comes from the Babylonian word “nukhu” meaning REPOSE OR REST. It can also be derived from the Hebrew word “nahum” meaning to COMFORT. It is a popular Old Testament name and is widely associated with Noah’s Ark.
#Choose your Baby’s names wisely. It is your unspoken blessings or curse for or against him/her. Amen.
