Imagine you are having a conversation with an African and he tells you that he would want to experience winter. What would you tell him? How about a Canadian telling you he would want to experience lots of sunshine. What would you tell him?
I am sure you would tell these two that they are in the wrong places per their desires: to the African, you would probably tell him to go to Europe, and to the Canadian, you would tell him to come to Africa. Why? Why can’t they experience those desires wherever they are? Aren’t they human beings? Are those experiencing their ‘hoped’ desires better than them? Are they not all covered by the same sky? Why can’t they experience sunshine or winter wherever they are?
This question in itself is complicated. Not everything can be explained to the roots. Like scientists, we observe and try to give meaning to confusion and complications.
I often hear rich celebrities say they don’t have peace. Some of them even explain wealth as having peace and enjoying what you have. “Really? All these while you guys made us think that money is the answer and the ultimate; it could get you everything you need, yet you are now saying that with all your money, you don’t have peace, and can’t even afford it. As in, you lack peace? Wow!”
What is actually peace to man?
How important is it?
What is it really?
You know, asking/hoping for peace when you are not ‘Born Again’ is like hoping for a mango out of an orange tree. It is I M P O S S I B L E!
The world may have some amount of peace to offer. Its peace is being able to afford your wants and some of your needs. But ultimately, a “not Born Again” Christian cannot experience holistic peace: A peace which is ‘cheap’ yet priceless. A peace which come from Jesus Christ himself. You can’t experience this if you are still in sin or haven’t given your life to Christ yet.
Some people say, ‘well, I don’t live in sin. As a matter of fact, I give to the poor, I take care of people, I am nice to all… and I have a kind heart.’ To this I say, “This is so nice of you.” But let’s look at what Jesus told somebody like this in the Bible; “Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, ‘Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him’. In reply Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, you MUST be born again. You are Israel’s teacher’ said Jesus, ‘and do you not understand these things?’”_ John 3:1-3, 6, 7, 10.
This scripture tells us that there are some things which will not be available to the ordinary human unless he is born of the Spirit (Born Again). Like the African, there are some things which will not be available to him unless he travels out of his current location to relocate abroad or to Europe.
This doesn’t mean God hates you. Actually, the devil deceitfully robbed us of all these things when he tricked Adam and Eve into sin. So now, our nature is automatically sinful, hence some things of heaven cannot be available to us as long as we remain in our sinful nature. But because God loves us and is abundant in mercy, he has made provision for you to have all these things and more. This provision is you being born again. This time, not of your parents (flesh), but of Him (the [Holy]Spirit), so that everything which belongs to Him, and is accessible to Him could be accessible to you too (his child _born of the Spirit).
If you see this provision as ‘religion’ and refuses it, you should understand that you have refused everything that could have been available to you on the bright side of life. Don’t think you could ‘bribe’ yourself into this inheritance by ‘being good’. No! Our righteousness is like filthy rag before God. We can’t be righteous before God that is why Jesus came to die for our sin, so that we will become his righteousness (righteous through Christ).
So, if you want peace (experience winter) my dear “Not born Again yet” human being (African), please come (relocate) to Jesus Christ Now (Europe Now). Until then, therapy will be your only (empty) hope at peace.
“Peace I leave with you; MY [OWN] PEACE I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]” _ John 14:27AMP.
Stay Blessed, and see you at the other PEACEFUL side of life.
Amen.
