Jesus as a preacher had a 2-fold ministry.

In fact, it was combined. The other couldn’t go on without the other.

It is mere excess of zeal if you know how to preach the word, but don’t know how to administrate an office.

The ministry has to do with people. Even though it is spiritually given, if you don’t know how to direct it in the physical realm, you would be in trouble.

Our savior, as an example showed us how this 2-fold ministry works.

He went about preaching the gospel, healing the sick, casting out demons, etc. But when it came to social issues, like paying taxes, he did. When it came to keeping the father’s house (the church) clean, he did. When it came to feeding the flocks food (the 5000 men), he did. When it came to saving up food to prevent wastage, he saw to it that it was done.

So you see? It would be a matter of sheer laziness to say you consent yourself with only the ministry of the word, and not ministry of the people.

The word you have is for the people (the sheep). And until the sheep is sound, and safe, your ministry wouldn’t hold.

The next time you feel that you are ready to hold an office in ministry, ask yourself, ‘Am I prepared for the two-fold ministry (administration of the word, and administration of the people)?

Should you know someone who wants to go into ministry, ask the person whether he is ready for the two-fold ministry? Because they go together.

Remember, excess of zeal with lack of knowledge is DANGEROUS.

Amen.
