A person is made up of the spirit, soul and body. When he gets born again, his spirit is recreated. Thus, made anew, but his soul and body are yet to experience any change. The recreated spirit is like the God element in him, but man has to bring his full self under the element of God. Since man is not apart, but a trio made into one complete whole, his spirit can’t be recreated, while his soul and body remain condemn.

So what does he do? What is he instructed to do?

Man is instructed to be transformed by the renewing of his mind (which is part of his soul). Man’s spirit and soul have to agree. How can they ‘walk’ together if they don’t agree (to be under one principle guide, the Word)? If the spirit is now of God, the soul must be too, so that it would be seen in the body by all men.

Where does the devil come in?

The devil doesn’t want man to be whole. He doesn’t want man to be under one ‘governance’. He is okay if you say your spirit is of God, but he wants the soul. And that doesn’t make sense. Having your spirit for God but your soul for the devil is like being lukewarm (clean water and dirty water mixed together): God would spit you out of his mouth.

This is the devil’s trick; he wants you to be okay with the thought of ‘giving your life to Christ’, but he wants you to follow your own ways and the lusts of your flesh (battle for the soul). Living this way (double life) will cause God to ‘spit’ you out of his mouth. It is equivalent to not being saved at all. The devil knows this.

In fact, we can say that where your soul is, that is where your Christian stand is. If your soul is in the devil, no matter how much you participate in church activities, you are of your father, the devil.

If you saw the need and importance to give your life to Christ, why don’t you see it as relevant to give your ‘soul’ to Christ too (the Word)? Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. [Romans 12:2NIV]

Having a born again spirit, with a fallen soul is NOT acceptable. It is like having a good tree bearing bad fruits, or having an apple tree bear bitter grapes. Would you be happy with such a tree?  Not at all! This is all confusion, and confusion is of the devil. The devil wants you to be both male and female in one body. This is not of the Lord.

Brethren, the Word of God isn’t difficult to conform to, or accept. After being born again, your spirit is now of God, and the HOLY Spirit in you is also of God. Your spirit and the Holy Spirit both like or accept the Word. They ‘eat’ those. It isn’t foreign to them. So, when you read the Word, the Holy Spirit helps you to understand, and obey it.

If you live outside of the Word, life would be hard for you. There would be a constant battle between your spirit and flesh. To be spiritually minded is life and PEACE.

Eve thought trying ‘another’ way outside the Word of God was going to be better: She saw how beautiful the fruit was, and how gaining ‘wisdom’ would be cool. But what happened to her. She perished [Genesis 3].

If your spirit is recreated, let your soul be transformed too by the renewing of your mind, then your spirit and soul would both agree (be under one governance). Your body would now be a good temple for the Holy Spirit who lives in you [1 Corinthians 6]

 Don’t accept the devil’s offer to live a life outside the Word of God, no matter how luxurious he packages his distraction (sin). A life outside the Word is NOT with Christ for Christ doesn’t dwell outside the Word. And life without Christ’s presence will be full of the devil’s presence (Crises).

Finally, if your spirit is of God, then let your soul be of God too (renewing your mind through the obedience of the Word). Then your body would be a PEACEFUL and PLEASANT temple for the Holy Spirit. This is the completion of mankind; that the spirit, soul and body may be under one governance, THE WORD!
