Having power over your emotional self is a great achievement.
Our thoughts are the engine to our emotional health. If you don’t know how to control your thoughts, you would lose power over your emotional self/health.
Below are the keys for you to have power over your thoughts, and gain freedom in your emotional self.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one FINAL THING. Fix your thoughts on what is TRUE, and HONOURABLE, and RIGHT, and PURE, and LOVELY, and ADMIRABLE. Think about things that are EXCELLENT and WORTHY OF PRAISE. [Philippians 4:8 NLT]
Not all of us are masters of our thoughts. Many of us allow the ‘birds’ which fly over our heads to actually settle on our heads, and even make their nest there. I understand. However, it shouldn’t be like that. We must have the control over our thoughts; they (the smaller entity) are ours, and are a part of us (the bigger entity), not we (the bigger entity) being a part of them (the smaller entity).
The Bible, being the hub of all wisdom has given us an escape route to escape the traps of our thoughts. The devil likes to play in the arena of thoughts. Whether you are a Christian or not, he will play with your thoughts, and should he overcome your thoughts, he could get into your spirit and destroy you. Don’t let him in; keep your “thoughts gate” closed on him.
“How are we to do that?” You may ask. The answer is in Philippians 4:8 as stated above.
Any thought which comes to your mind, ask yourself, “Is this thought TRUE? Is it HONOURABLE? Is it RIGHT? Is it PURE? Is it LOVELY? Is it ADMIRABLE? Is it EXCELLENT and WORTHY OF PRAISE?” If the thought doesn’t meet any one of these requirements, know that that thought is from the devil, and it is here to STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY something in you.
Look at what happened to Eve? Her mind was seduced by the devil. The thoughts the devil brought to her mind wasn’t TRUE, PURE, EXCELLENT, and RIGHT, just to mention a few. And we all realize what the devil’s plan was after Eve fell for his deceit: he came to steal THEIR AUTHORITY in Christ.
Don’t see your thoughts as something insignificant. It can ruin you if you don’t have control over it. For instance, as beautiful as you are, should you begin to believe the lies you hear about yourself that you aren’t good enough, you aren’t this or that, you would find yourself crumbling. What does the word of God say about you? The Word of God says that then God looked over all HE HAD MADE, and he saw that IT WAS VERY GOOD! [Genesis 1:31]. Were you made by God? Are you part of God’s creation? If YES, then the Bible (God’s Word) says, “YOU ARE VERY GOOD.” Should you believe anything outside this Word of God, then you would have yourself to blame. Scripture is God’s Breath. Don’t take it for granted. He created this whole world by His Word. Jesus overcame the devil on the mountain by the Word of God. What are you saying? Do you think the Word of God is some small thing? Absolutely Not!
Know the Word of God for yourself, so that when the devil comes against you either through your thoughts, friends, or circumstances, you would overcome him with the Sword of the Word, and shield yourself from his darts with the SHIELD OF FAIT.
Genesis 1:31 (which is God’s breath) says that you are very good. God made you, and he saw that you were very good. So who is he or who is man to tell you otherwise. If anyone tells you anything other than the Word of God, then that person is like an Anti-Christ!
Don’t believe anything outside of the Word of God. If what somebody says to you is not a loving rebuke, correction, teaching, and direction which stems from the Love of God and neighbor, then ignore whatever they tell you, because he or she is like an Anti-Christ.
Don’t fear calling people out or seeing someone as an antichrist when they are saying anything contrary to the Word of God. Even Peter was for a short while influence by Satan, and Jesus rebuked him, “Get thee behind me Satan!”
Your thoughts is your farm: Nurture it with the Love of God, and with the Water of His Word. Don’t allow anybody plant weeds (their opinion, the devil’s lies, etc) in it. Take good care of your thoughts as you would have if your life were to be in your hands.
Stay Blessed.
Amen.
Book Recommendation:
I would like to recommend a book, The Triumphant Church from Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin to you. It is a great book. It gives insight into this thought and emotional arena of man.
