If we are the light of the world, and are expected to lit up the world with the light in us, then what makes us think that it is okay to eat the food of ‘King Nebuchadnezzar’ and stain our robe of righteousness?
If God has made us the light of the world, then that is what we ought to be; the light. The source of this light in us is God through Jesus Christ our Lord. We needn’t be okay with ‘any’ other light which comes from somewhere called ENTER-tain-ment.
“Fight your salvation with FEAR and trembling.’[Philippians 2:12] You have to be very careful about what you allow to ENTER (main-TAIN) you.
“It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that makes him unclean and defiled, but what comes out of the mouth; this makes a man unclean and defiles [him].” [Matthew 15:11 AMP] You may feel entertained by what you are watching, but be very careful about how this entertainment is altering your soul (your thoughts, intentions and will). You are accountable for what comes out of you. You wouldn’t be able to blame it on the entertainment or trends you were enjoying because you are the steward of your soul, not them. You have been commanded by God to not conform to the standards of this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of your MIND, so that you would be able to know the perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
Be very careful brethren. Trends could be fine, but my dear, light bearer, what is these trends doing to your soul? How is it influencing your thoughts? Is it enticing your body into sin or is it encouraging it into righteousness? Be your own credible judge.
What goes into your body may not defile you, but what comes out of you (your heart, your mouth) is what defiles you. And the Bible says, “Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals and his feet not be burned? [Proverbs 6:27-28 AMP] We may have seen this scripture in the light of sex, and its factors. But let’s look deeper; this scripture is also asking us that who can have sin as a company, and not fall? Who can consume so much misleading trends in the name of its funny, its interesting, etc and not sin?
We see children being influenced by excessive screen/television time, yet we seem not to see that we can also be lured from the light through social media, trends and the likes. We, as light bearers ought to work. How can the dark world entertain a light bearer? How can two walk together unless they agree? What does Christ and Belial have in common? [2 Corinthians 6:14-15]
If the people of the world are using social media to entertain, watch out! We are all God’s (creative) creatures, and some of us have incredible talents, and it’s beautiful to watch. Yet, my dear God’s light bearer, if the content of that “creativity” isn’t encouraging you in godliness, it isn’t teaching you about God, rebuking you about your sins, or correcting bad behaviors that you may be in, then that content isn’t good for YOUR consumption: It isn’t gospel [2 Timothy 3:16].
Just be careful y’all. Let’s not be like the unwise virgins and not carry extra oil (extra care, extra wisdom, and extra vigilance)
At the end of it all, know that lukewarm people are as bad as straight up bad people. [Revelation 3:16] And both are going to hell IF they don’t repent. Don’t try to play it safe by being lukewarm. Luke warmness makes you spiritually disgusting. It isn’t a good sight to behold.
Whenever you are on social media or watching any “ENTER-tain-ment”, please PLEAD the Blood of Jesus over your spirit, soul, and body, and then apply the wisdom of God and be selective about the content you consume. Because like I said before, you would be accountable for your soul, because it was entrusted to you, and nobody else.
“You [are like] unfaithful wives [having illicit love affairs with the world and breaking your marriage vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world takes his stand as an enemy of God.” [James 4:4 AMP]
“If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.” [John 14:15 AMP]
“[But what of that?] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with THE GLORY that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!” [Romans 8:18 AMP]
“Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.” [James 1:12 AMP]
