Both of my parents died. I was left alone. I had completed my senior secondary education, but who was going to help me through my tertiary education?
I know my relatives may offer to help, but would I get the comfort of spending money? Whose money will I spend ‘anyhow’ and still ask for more? Except my dad’s, and he is no more.
I asked the Lord, “Should I not make it to the university, what is my purpose on Earth? Please tell me. I mean, gadgets have purposes, animals have purposes and places to be. Where is my place Lord, and what is my purpose?”
I didn’t want to be thrown into the tunnel of the System, called formal education with everybody else, hoping to get to the end of the tunnel, and race out for some light called salary or income. No! There has to be more than someone paying me; there’s got to be more than someone giving me a meagre subset of a whole money. How do I get out of the System?
“What is my purpose Lord? Why did you bring me here? With or without formal education, what is my purpose? Elephants don’t swim, but fishes do. Why am I being put in the same boat as everybody, and told to sail through the sea of life like everybody else, yet some die, some get drown, some get greedy and push others out of the boat, and even some just become indifferent? Am I supposed to compete with everybody? Animals like elephants don’t compete with fishes, because they know their purposes, and they know their place. Why do I not know my place Lord? Why is my purpose a mystery to me? Fishes aren’t jealous of the size of an elephant. They live comfortably in their abode. Why do I feel misplaced or even a victim of the System Lord?”
Then I heard a still small voice say, “FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS: FOLLOW THAT WHICH INTERESTS YOU. Don’t seek for gain. Rather seek for fulfillment in all of them. If you want income, get a job. But if you want a job where you will be the boss, go find your passions. No human being is empty. I put something in you. It is like a treasure hunt. It isn’t something just laying around. Like gold, I have put it deep within you. It takes dedication, hard work, and perseverance to find your treasure. It is a treasure, not just anything.
When you find it, you would have found your place on earth!
For the mean time, because you need to pay your bills, go and get a less stressful, and a not too time-consuming job, so that you can still have energy, space and time to pursue your INTERESTS.
Your interests are the little lights within you, which should you follow, and lit them up, you will have a galaxy of a blissful life.
Until you find your interests (those little lights within you) you are going to have to compete for the fading light at the end of the tunnel (the System). The light at the end of the tunnel is too little to serve you all, hence the ferocious rat race.
Know that, your current situation, isn’t the conclusion of your life: It may be a chapter in the story, but IT ISN’T THE WHOLE STORY!
Don’t seek a “huge” light now; just follow the traces the little lights within you (your interests) gives, and you will find in no time that those little lights you followed was actually your pathway into your beautiful galaxy of a blissful, and more fulfilling life.
Your interests are YOURS!
Your passions are YOURS!
Your gifts and talents are YOURS!
Make them your babies. Nurture them, and they will grow for You.
