How dangerous do you think being lukewarm is?

Do you know that lukewarmness is more of an insult to God and His Word than unbelief? Someone choosing not to serve God is a “Will thing”. But someone choosing God and the devil at the same time is an insult to God and His Word.

What does the Word of God say about light and darkness?

“In him was life, and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness HAS NOT OVERCOME IT” [John 1:4-5NIV]

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will NEVER walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” [John 8:12 NIV]

“What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them and I will be their God, and they will be my people.’ Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing and I will receive you.’ And ‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’ [2 Corinthians 6:15-18NIV]

Go through all these scriptures and see the revelation God is trying to give you. Darkness and Light CANNOT co-exist. Light OVERCAME darkness [John 1:4-5].

So, if Light overcame darkness, how then do we let them co-exist? Letting light and darkness coexist is like saying they are both equal. And this is NOT TRUE.

God is NOT equal to the devil. In fact, the devil is NO match to God. He is no comparison. Satan submits to God. So why would you, through lukewarmness put master and slave on the same pedestal?

If you are hot, then be hot. But if you are cold, then be cold. DON’T BE LUKEWARM.

If there exist two queues, one for those wearing red, and the other for those wearing yellow, yet you are wearing orange, which queue will you belong to? Obviously, the red will reject you, because you aren’t red. The yellow would too. So, where will you be?

Lukewarmness may suit society, but it doesn’t suit heaven: It doesn’t please God. God wants to know where your commitment is. Is it with him or is it with the devil? You can’t have both coexisting. You can’t serve both masters. You would either have to love, and submit to the one, and despise the other.

The world may approve of “a little good, a little bad.” But with God, it is either you are all good, or you are all bad. You can’t have any middle place. Are you His child or are you a child of Belial?

He, God, the Light, has overcome darkness. In that case, He cannot COEXIST with darkness (evil). God does NO evil. He has no sin in Him. He expects us to be perfect as He is perfect [Matthew 5:48].

The reason why lukewarmness is worse than unbelief is this: According to John 3:16, salvation is a matter of a person’s will. A person’s will is usually influenced or informed by the amount of knowledge or light he has in him.

So, if somebody who hasn’t got the knowledge of Jesus Christ in him yet, doesn’t believe in Jesus, or if someone has chosen not to follow Jesus, his case is different. He is different from someone who has tasted God but wants to add some evil (the devil) to ‘spice things up’.

Such a lukewarm person is implying that God isn’t enough.

He is implying that God’s Light isn’t redeeming enough.

He is implying that the devil’s power is potent.

He is implying that Jesus’ work on the cross isn’t finished like he said.

Hebrews 6:4-6 MSG: “Once people have seen the light, gotten a taste of heaven and been part of the work of the Holy Spirit, once they’ve personally experienced the sheer goodness of God’s Word and the powers breaking in on us – if then they turn their backs on it, washing their hands of the whole thing, well they can’t start over as if nothing happen. That’s impossible. Why, they’ve re-crucified Jesus! They’ve repudiated him in public!”

Hebrews 6:4-6 NIV: “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.”

“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” [Revelation 3:16 KJV]

“So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” [Revelation 3:16 NIV]

“And the LORD God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but YOU MUST NOT EAT from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for WHEN YOU EAT from it YOU WILL CERTAINLY DIE.” [Genesis 2:16 NIV]

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation – but it is NOT to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” [Romans 8:12-14NIV]

For you to be able to stay in God, you will need the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, through his leadings and counsel and help makes your Christian Walk easier.

The people of the old didn’t have the Holy Spirit residing in them. So they had to obey God by strength. This, they failed.

It’s not surprising that Jesus warned his disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come upon them first before they become his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judah, Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the world.

Brethren don’t be lukewarm and think you are safe. In fact, the devil will be very happy having you lukewarm, because you can easily blend with Christians. He can easily make you his tool of destruction against the Christians.

He doesn’t mind ‘blessing’ you so that you stay in your lukewarmness. After all, it’s the end that matters. And the devil knows that your end is where he is, hell.

Lukewarm is being hot and cold.

            Lukewarm is being evil and good.

                        Lukewarm is like the fruit of the knowledge of Good and Evil.
