When we are going through pain and we tell our Christian brothers and sisters, what they tell us is mostly this: “The teacher is always quiet during a test.”
That is to say that our pain is a test from God and that we should accept it and go through it, and that, God cannot tempt us [James 1]. And even if temptation comes, He doesn’t allow a temptation ‘beyond our heads’ to fall on us.
But putting the above aside, more seriously, serving God can sometimes be very difficulty, too difficult that we begin to have some thoughts. Not that we are not saved; we are saved and have given our hearts and souls to God; we know him and we are actually walking with him, but the walk sometimes gets too tough. He seems mostly silence or ‘on a break’ during those dying times of ours.
What do we do? Do we quit?
I know you would say No to quitting, but I tell you, “Easier said than done”.
Until there is some understanding or revelations, we are likely to backslide in our actions without even knowing because, our minds would still be in church, but our hearts are far away.
“Guide your hearts. For out of it springs the issues of life.”[Proverbs 4:23]
Let me ask this, “Didn’t Jesus know that He was coming to earth purposely to die for our sins through crucifixion on the cross (a disgrace)? Then why did he cry in the garden ‘begging’ God to let this cup (crucifixion on the cross) to pass over him?”
This shows how far God understands human weakness.
He said he became weak that we may become strong.
“Augustina you’ve spoken at length. What is the solution here? Give us the revelation.”
Sure I will.
The revelation/solution is that, you have to understand the reason behind your salvation.
Why did you give your life to Christ?
“To be saved. Have I answered you Tina?”
Yeah, but not full.
Did you choose to be saved to exploit God or ‘use’ him? Or did you get save as part of the scripture that says, “If you Love me, keep my commandments?
“Hmm… I don’t know.”
No problem.
When serving God becomes too difficult that you want to have a taste of the world, just remember what Christ had to endure for us from the garden (crying/sweating blood) to the cross (dying a shameful death for us).
Remember that!
What did God / Christ ask from you before doing this (dying on the cross)?
Nothing!
He actually died, resurrected before putting the will down that you should believe him to be saved (John 3:16-17).
Don’t love God, through Christ BECAUSE OF.
Love him IN SPITE OF, like how Shadrack and co. defended God before the king; “If our God doesn’t even save us, WE WILL NOT BOW BEFORE YOUR god.”
I am sure if it were to be some of us, we would have said; “King wait. If God doesn’t save me, then I will bow to you statue.” Lol.
LOVE GOD IN SPITE OF (If God doesn’t answer this prayer of mine, I will still serve him and love him the same) NOT BECAUSE OF… (If he does these for me, then I would serve him).
God revealed this to me, He said; “You cannot receive anything from God when you are far away. [He spoke in a human tone, as if a person spoke to me].”
And it is true.
If God got your blessings in his hands, stretched towards you, but you are far away that your stretched hand doesn’t reach His, you will never get what he has for you, until YOU GET CLOSE.
“How do you get close?”
By creating/ having a PERSONAL relationship with Him: Don’t know Him by only what people say, but know Him by what you have discovered or being revealed to. Abraham knew God as God, he didn’t know him as a Provider (El-shaddai) until he passed his test (pain) on the mountain with his son, Isaac.
Until you pass through some things/walk with God, you will never know him:
His word wouldn’t become flesh to you to dwell among you [John 1:14]. That is why unbelievers and atheists don’t know God; because they don’t believe him to have a revelation of him.
Paul (Saul) thought he was doing right as a religious boy until HE MET CHRIST: He now counted all his gain as losses for Christ.
Brethren, when serving God becomes difficult, cry if you like, don’t hold anything back. God knows everything already but he desires your commitment and relationship with him,to talk/speak your pains to Him.
He said in his word: “He who is happy should sing praises. He who is sad should pray.”[James 5:13]
“Sorrow may endure for a night, but JOY cometh in the morning.”[Psalm 30:5]
“Our suffering on this Earth cannot be compared with the Joy which we shall receive in heaven.”[Romans 8:18]
“The Joy of the Lord is my strength.” [Nehemiah 8:10]
“The LORD is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear?” [Psalm 27:1]
This and many more encourages us.
Cry if you ought/want to.
Sleep if you can.
Whisper a prayer.
But don’t touch your phone to make a call or whatever.
Don’t hate God, but perfect your endurance and patience for him through your love for him.[James 1:2-6].
LOVE HIM IN SPITE OF, NOT BECAUSE OF.
If you say you love God, look into 1 Corinthians 13.
God Bless you.
I love you.
Amen.
