(JOSEPH WAS TRAINED FOR HIS GREATNESS_ so will you!)
Did you know that before Joseph got to Pharaoh’s house to become a Prime minister, he was trained in his prime minister duties before he even knew he was to become a prime minister?
Yes, the bible doesn’t say that specifically, but the Holy Spirit reveals it.
Let’s look at something here:
Joseph became the prime minister after he interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams. As a prime minister, he was put in charge of everything, and he was superior to everybody except Pharaoh himself.
Before Joseph came to the palace, he was in prison.
Before Joseph came to Egypt, he was in Canaan.
Before all these happened, he had a dream that he was going to be great. As a matter of fact, Joseph didn’t know the meaning of the dream. He just narrated it to his father and his father interpreted it to him, as becoming great.
Joseph could have just been amazed that 11 stars and the sun with the moon bowed to him. That was amazing, that was an amazing sight to behold. And being the person that these celestial bodies were bowing down to was thrilling and fun. So happy as he was, he just told his father about it, but his brothers hated him and labelled him ‘a dreamer’.
Joseph didn’t have any hand in all these; his father’s interpretation, and his brothers’ hate and plot. He was just naïve about everything. Just acting as the beloved son of Jacob. That was all, but God knew the plan, God knows the plan, and God is in the plan.
Joseph was sold, he became a slave, and then the overseer of Potiphar’s wealth. He was tempted, he refused, and CHOSE GOD OVER EVERYTHING. He was wrongly accused, he was put in Jail for no wrong done.
Through it all, do you know what was going through Joseph’s mind?
If it were any of us, Holy Spirit filled Christians, we would have thought God had abandoned us, or even ‘lied’ to us. But no! Joseph held onto the God of his father. He hadn’t seen him, but he believed in him that if he was with his fathers and forefathers, he can be with him also.
Joseph literally endured pain.
Even in the pain, he was still nice. He didn’t lose his faith nor had his spirit broken by anxiety or the pain he was going through.
In the Prison, he was made ‘lord’ over the other prisoners. With his ‘Lordship’ position, he didn’t lord himself over the other prisoners. The LORD God was with him even in prison.
Joseph, tired of prison and having hope that he may get out of prison told one of the prisoners to remember him on the day of his release. This prisoner forgot him, but God didn’t: It wasn’t yet time for Joseph to be out. He was still being prepared for his greatness even though he didn’t see it coming; he had no hope of becoming anything more than what he was in Potiphar’s house.
Through all these, one may wonder, “why was God allowing these?”
Potiphar saw that the Spirit of God was upon Joseph, so why did God allow Joseph to go through all these when if he had ‘miraculously’ vindicated Joseph and made everybody know that Potiphar’s wife lied, ‘many souls would have been won’?
“Why did God allow all these?” You may ask.
Let me tell you something; remember that Joseph was a pampered kid. He was loved by his father so much, and he had a dream of greatness. Now, because of where the greatness is, going there with a pampered brain wouldn’t be appropriate. Going there with a faint faith will not be appropriate either, so God had to test and prepare Joseph for the journey ahead. He had to see if Joseph was ready for his greatness; if Joseph sees and acknowledges him,God in every step of the way.
How did God test or train Joseph for his raise?
He did that by making him ‘lord’ in Potiphar’s house in other for him to have a taste of greatness, leadership, and authority in another man’s land. He did that by letting his favour rest upon Joseph so that Joseph will know how to balance ‘pampering’ with duties of integrity.
If Joseph had settled and thought that Potiphar’s place was the best, and that even if he ever dreamed of being close to the King, it was not possible because he was not royal, and after all, he is somewhat close to the King already through Potiphar; if all these had flown through Joseph’s mind, and had he settled for comfort in the arms of Potiphar’s wife, that would have been the end: He may have still being arrested and put in jail, or he may have disgraced God and disappointed his family in the midst of the famine, since there would have been famine still without any food in the warehouses.
All these while; through the pain, and the gain, the disappointments and the hurts, Joseph had only one thing, his intimate relationship with God. He chose God over everything; over his pleasure, over his verdict/innocence, over his comfort (being in prison for no reason), etc.
And God, who revealed his dreams to him led him to the fulfillment of his dream.
“When Joseph became prime minister, what did he do?” He was lord over everything, except over Pharaoh.
Does this ring a bell? Does Joseph have this ‘job’ experience already on his ‘CV’?
Yes. This was the same thing he did in Potiphar’s house on a small scale; he looked over Potiphar’s field and house hold, everything, and that is the exact thing he is doing right now as a prime minister, and even more.
And look at something right here; except in Pharoah’s place, Joseph wasn’t ‘raped’, he was given a wife.
How nice is that?
Had he chosen his will over God’s will along the line, had he given up, had he been callous about his job in Potiphar’s house, he wouldn’t have received the necessary ‘skills’ needed for this greatness.
So check yourself right now, check your life, compare your current situations, and your past situation with your future (where you want to be): Are there any resemblance? Are there some things you were put through or made to do that have toughen you or you were callous about and didn’t take it serious?
Note that, God had to take the ‘pampering spirit’ out of Joseph and make him a ‘man’, without breaking him. Also, note that, he needed to test Joseph so much so that he would know that it wasn’t pain that got him ‘here’, but it was God (the light) who used darkness to bring him Day.
We see this when Joseph told his brothers not to worry or feel sad and ashamed, and that, it wasn’t them that brought him here, but it was God; they didn’t ‘sell’ him, it was God who brought him ‘here’. Actually, they were in God’s will all these while.
So my dear, look into your life very well. As for me, I saw my life when I got this revelation. I had always seen myself as a rich girl, and a would-be rich woman in future, but here I was not being able to even manage the ‘lot’ of money I had. I was ‘rich’ but still broke. But God was merciful to show me what I lacked; I lacked knowledge, not ‘much money’. And once I got that knowledge and applied it in wisdom, my eyes were opened and I felt so much peace; so much peace that I needn’t live from hand to mouth again and be frustrated for not having enough in my saving account.
Also, about my time. God revealed it to me how I had a lot of time on my hands but still complained that 24 hours wasn’t enough. Once I saw this, I apologized to God for my mistakes, and started to make the right turn, a step at a time.
What is a rich man who can’t manage his time? He would be frustrated for life.
What is a rich man who doesn’t know how to manage his money and use it for his own benefit, while the others work for him? He would be unfulfilled.
So my dear, just as Joseph was trained for his raise, but it wasn’t obvious until he got there, I tell you, seize every opportunity to either learn, or make things right. And through it all, don’t forget the necessary ingredient; God.
Let God be in all you do, and your life will be tasty, and full of light.
Stay Blessed.
I Love You.
Bye!
