Hebrews 4:12AMP _ “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the diving line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analysing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12-13MSG _ “God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one can resist God’s Word. We can’t get away from it-no matter what.”

Hebrews 4:12KJV _ “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12NKJV _ “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Discern:

To detect, To perceive, to recognize, to comprehend, to descry, to distinguish, to differentiate, to perceive differences.

Discerner:

[According to a google search (11/01/22; 9:06am)]

A person who perceives or detects something.

According to the various translations of the scripture in Hebrews 4:12, we understand that the WORD OF GOD is Powerful, Alive, Living, Active, Quick, and full of power.  Also, we get that its effect can be felt into the division of the soul (breath of life) and spirit. Not only there, but it goes further to reaching the joints and marrow (body), and it is also the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the hearts (Our minds/intellect, and will (heart)).

Thus, all these are characteristics of the Word of God. Hence, if a word is said to be from God, but lacks these characteristics, then it may not be the word of God. That being said, every word of God can and should perform all the above characters because it is a whole package on its own. Just as the mouth is made up of the tongue and teeth, and that anything without a tongue, and teeth, cannot be qualified as a mouth, the word of God is also qualified to be the Word of God if comes with these characteristics; living, powerful, sharper, quick, alive, and full of power.

The Word of God, be it spoken or written (the bible) has these same characteristics.

Are you sick in your bones?

Speak the word of God over them. It goes deep into the joints and marrow.

Is something dead in your life?

Speak the word of God over it. #Ezekiel and the dry bones.

Is something delaying in your life?

Speak the swift and quick word of God over it.

Do you want to see some power manifest in your finances, health, and your soul?

Speak the Word of God over it.

Every word of God that you speak to a fellow, needs to “cut” the person. The Word of God is a sword. And every sword cuts. And every cut is felt: Ephesians 6:17_ “And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.”

“When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’”_ Acts 2:37NIV.

Aside the word of God cutting, it also has to have the above properties; living, active, powerful, quick, full of power, and alive.

If what you speak as a preacher, or man/woman of God, or if what you hear as a child of God or a creature of God doesn’t cut you to your heart, isn’t living, active, quick, powerful, full of power, and alive, then it is NOT the Word of God you are speaking or hearing. It may be an emotional talk. Maybe, a mere motivational speech. And mind you, motivational speech, even though it is important and has its place, it CANNOT give you victory over the devil.

If you aren’t able to overcome the devil, you would use your motivated mind to build yourself and empire, and the devil will use his evil self to collapse or devour it. You need something better. And that something better is the Word of God + FAITH [Ephesians 6:16-17].

Amen.
